John Oskoui

Director Oskoui, At-LargeDirector John Oskoui serves as an appointed Director providing representation to cities within the District's service area. In addition to serving Central Basin, Director Oskoui currently serves as Assistant City Manager for Downey. Director Oskoui's experience includes 30 years in local government, of which 20 included municipal engineering and public works. He has been serving public agencies for the past 32 years, including 20 years in municipal engineering and public works both as a city employee and a consultant to various municipalities.

Director Oskoui has extensive experience in directing operations and capital programs for various local water purveyors. Some of his work includes preparing strategic plans and economic studies as it relates to water infrastructure and systems. Director Oskoui has also planned and implemented best practices for water sustainability. In fact, he was involved with the District's very first recycled water project and has remained committed to securing water supplies and promoting sustainability in Southeast Los Angeles.

Additionally, Director Oskoui is involved in various professional organizations and has held leadership positions in a number of these organizations. He actively participated in an unprecedented effort to establish an underground water storage management program in the central basin. Mr. Oskoui is also a member of the Central Basin Water Rights Panel.

Outside of his profession, Director Oskoui is involved with various mentorship programs for underprivileged and at-risk youth.

Director Oskoui holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, a Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering, and is a registered Civil Engineer in the state of California.
